Taiwanese Tea

Taiwanese tea is famously easy to enjoy. Most of it is oolong, which here means teas that range from light and floral to deeply roasted and warming. The lighter ones taste like flowers and fresh air. The darker ones are toasty, almost like caramel. Taiwan also produces its own black teas with a honey-like sweetness, and GABA teas that have a calming effect and a soft taste you can drink any time of day.

What makes Taiwanese tea stand out is how approachable it is. Nothing here will punish you if your water is a little too hot or your steep runs a little long. If you want a collection where nearly everything is smooth and enjoyable right away, this is it. New to loose-leaf and not sure where to begin? Start here. Want to understand the range? Our Taiwanese tea guide walks you through the different styles and what to expect from each.
